This tool is a bit on the small side, making it awkward to hang onto while in use. Both the handle (which must be constantly gripped hard) and the turn-crank are small. The turn crank handle fits between thumb and forefinger, no room for other fingers. I am female and have fairly average-sized hands and strength. The Handle was hard to get a grip on to turn. I tried it on cheese (cheddar) and a chunk of carrot. The cheese was easier, the carrot close to impossible. The grated food comes out fine (as in small), but a lot of excess food gets stuck around the wheel and does not come out of the opening. It has to come apart to thoroughly clean, which is difficult at best. The grater does seem VERY well built and sturdy, and because it's small, it is easier to store. All in all, I will keep it but probably use it seldom (moderately soft items only), turning to my trusty box grater and microplane for most jobs.
